CartCat's catalogue is built on the work of many people. Pages that show imported data name its source beside it; this page lists them all, with the licence or terms each is used under.
Catalogue data
Redump (redump.org) and No-Intro (no-intro.org). Their preservation datfiles are the backbone of the catalogue: which discs and cartridges exist, their regions, serials and product codes. Used as factual reference under each project's terms.
Wikidata (wikidata.org). Release dates, publishers, developers, genres and series. Wikidata's data is published under CC0, and we credit it anyway: game pages link to the Wikidata item they used.
Wikipedia (wikipedia.org). Some game descriptions are summaries written from Wikipedia articles, and each links the article it came from. Wikipedia's text is licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0, and anything we adapted from it is shared under the same licence.
IGDB (igdb.com). Facts, descriptions and some cover images, used under the IGDB API terms and credited beside them on each game page.
CartCat members. Corrections, new releases and photos sent in by members and approved by moderators. Each change is credited in the release's revision history.
Box art
libretro-thumbnails (github.com/libretro-thumbnails). Scans collected by the libretro community.
GameTDB (gametdb.com). Regional cover scans, mostly for Nintendo and Sony systems.
LaunchBox Games Database (gamesdb.launchbox-app.com). Front, back, spine and disc scans.
Each image says where it came from. The artwork itself belongs to its publishers; it is shown to identify the release, and no licence to it passes to you. If you hold the rights to an image and want it removed, tell us.
Prices
eBay. Sold prices on release pages come from completed eBay listings, collected for us by Trawl and CompSniper. eBay is a trademark of eBay Inc., used to say where the prices come from; CartCat isn't endorsed by or affiliated with eBay.
eBay listings. Listings for sale on eBay that CartCat shows beside its own come from the eBay Browse API.
eBay Partner Network. Links from CartCat to eBay items may be affiliate links: if you buy on eBay after following one, CartCat may earn a commission. It costs you nothing and doesn't change which items or prices we show.
CartCat sales. CartCat's own completed orders are shown in green on the same chart.
Exchange rates
Prices shown in a currency other than the listing's are converted at reference rates published by the European Central Bank (ecb.europa.eu). They are estimates, marked ≈; you are always charged in the listing's currency.
Software
CartCat is built with open-source software, including Next.js, React, PostgreSQL, Drizzle ORM, better-auth, Tailwind CSS, the Archivo typeface (SIL Open Font License) and the Iosevka typeface (SIL Open Font License). Thank you to everyone who maintains them.
